Researchers:
The Laboratory of Molecular Epidemiology and Evolutionary Genetics (until 2015, Laboratory of Molecular Microbiology) deals with molecular epidemiology, evolutionary genetics and genomic bioinformatics of Mycobacterium tuberculosis, other pathogenic bacteria and hepatitis viruses.
The laboratory was created in 1992 on the initiative of Professor F.S. Noskov (Director of the institute in 1992-1994) for developing and implementing new molecular genetic methods of diagnostics and epidemiological surveillance of pathogenic agents.
Prof. Olga Narvskaya was the head of laboratory in 1993 to 2015; since December 2015, the laboratory is directed by Igor Mokrousov, PhD, DSc/HDR.
