On June 26-30, 2023, following the invitation of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), Institute scientists Dr. Vladimir Dedkov, Deputy Director for Research, Dr. Anna Dolgova, Head of the Laboratory of Molecular Genetics of Pathogens, Dr. Dmitry Polev, Head of the Metagenomic Research Group visited the institutions of the CAS in Beijing. In addition, at the suggestion of the Chinese side, the delegation paid a short-term visit to the National Institute for the Control of Food and Drugs and held a meeting with representatives of BGI company division (high-throughput sequencing equipment manufacturer).
During the visit to the Institute of Genetics and Developmental Biology of CAS, the parties identified the main areas of possible scientific cooperation, and also agreed to present joint Russia-China bilateral scientific projects.
Upon the visit to the Institute of Zoology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the parties expressed interest in conducting joint scientific research in the development of new molecular diagnostic tools, as well as elaboration of joint Russia-China scientific projects. They also discussed the arrangement of an agreement on scientific cooperation between the institutes.
At the visit to the National Institute for Food and Drug Control, the parties agreed to continue consultations to search for topics for joint research activities to study the characteristics of the formation of population immunity using various types of SARS-COV-2 vaccines.
During a visit to the Institute of Genomics (China National Center for Bioinformation) of CAS, the parties identified a list of promising areas for cooperation: consultations of Chinese experts in compilation of the Russian genetic base of pathogens; access to the Chinese National Genetic Data Collection (CNCB) resources; joint publications in scientific journals published in China; training of experts of the Pasteur Institute under the programs of CAS in the field of bioinformatics; collaborative research on host-pathogen interactions; collaborative analysis of data from metaviroma studies; proteomic research; submission of Russia-China joint scientific projects. The parties also agreed to prepare an agreement on scientific cooperation between the institutes.
