On October 13-15, 2026, two experts from the Institute – Dr. Dmitry Polev, Senior Researcher and Head of the Metagenomic Research Laboratory, and Dr. Anna Gladkikh, Senior Researcher at the Laboratory of Molecular Genetic Monitoring participated in the 11th Big Data Forum for Life and Health Sciences, held in Beijing, China. The Forum, organized by the Beijing Institute of Genomics (Chinese Academy of Sciences) and the China National Center for Bioinformation, addressed key issues in genetics, genomics, transcriptomics, and epigenetics as they relate to human and animal health and longevity, as well as biodiversity and ecological interconnections.

Dr. Anna Gladkikh delivered a presentation on the role of SARS-CoV-2 genome evolution in the epidemic process within the Northwestern region of Russia during the pandemic.
