On May 3-16, 2026, Olga Kalinina, Leading Researcher, Laboratory of Molecular Epidemiology and Evolutionary Genetics, Evgeniya Lichnaya, Junior Researcher, Laboratory of Molecular Epidemiology and Evolutionary Genetics, and Olga Petrova, Clinical Laboratory Diagnostics Physician, Central Clinical Diagnostic Laboratory, completed the next stage of their research project, "Sero- and Molecular-Epidemiological Monitoring of Viral Hepatitis." at the Joint Russian-Vietnamese Tropical Research and Technology Center (Hanoi, Vietnam) together with their Vietnamese colleagues,
As part of the Federal Project "Sanitary Shield – Health Safety (Prevention, Detection, and Response)," Russian-Vietnamese scientists conducted research to identify serological markers for the hepatitis E virus, assess the prevalence of Herpesviridae viruses, and analyze the levels of TREC and KREC (specific molecular markers of T and B cells) in individuals belonging to various minor ethnic groups. Fragments of the hepatitis B virus genome were also amplified for subsequent sequencing.
The results obtained, prospects for further research, the preparation and approval of articles for publication, and the current status and future collaboration in dissertation research were discussed with the leadership of the Tropical Research Institute, part of the Joint Russian-Vietnamese Tropical Research and Technology Center.
