
The 5th Asian African Congress of Mycobacteriology was held online on April 7-8, 2026. Over the course of two days, presentations were made on a variety of fundamental and applied issues in modern mycobacteriology, covering the causative agents of tuberculosis and mycobacteriosis, treatment, diagnosis, epidemiology, and the application of modern genomic technologies.
Dr. Igor Mokrousov, Head of the Laboratory of Molecular Epidemiology and Evolutionary Genetics, made an oral presentation, "Experimental Evolution of Mycobacterium tuberculosis in the In Vivo and In Vitro Models," based on the results of the study supported by the Russian Science Foundation (grant 24-44-00004).

Note: The Asian African Society of Mycobacteriology was founded in 2011. The Society publishes the International Journal of Mycobacteriology, by Elsevier until 2016 and by Wolters Kluwer since 2017.
