About the monograph "The Central Nervous System and Post-COVID Syndrome"

At the end of the project, funded by a grant from the Russian Science Foundation (RSF) as part of Russian-Belarusian cooperation No. 23-45-10017 "Metabolic, Structural, and Molecular-Genetic Factors in the Development of Cognitive and Psychoneurological Disorders in People in the Post-COVID Period of Illness. Rationale and Development of Diagnostic and Corrective Technologies," a team of authors edited by N.A. Belyakov, MD, Professor, and Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, and V.V. Rassokhin, MD, Professor, and editor, prepared the monograph "The Central Nervous System and Post-COVID Syndrome" at the end of 2025.

This monograph examines the manifestations of post-COVID syndrome (PCS), neuropathogenesis, diagnostic issues, the main causes of prolonged psychoneurological symptoms, disorders of higher nervous activity, and other manifestations, included in ICD-10 as U09.9 "Post-COVID-19 condition, unspecified."

PCS is considered a consequence of viral inflammation localized in various tissues, including the brain, which has acquired a new pathogenetic property due to the involvement of a complex of immune and nonspecific processes, disrupting the regulation of basic functions that aggravate the patient's condition. The diverse clinical presentation and combination of symptoms of PCS necessitate personalized patient recovery.

This monograph is intended and recommended for neurologists, infectious disease specialists, internists, and others involved in the treatment of patients with PCS, as well as senior students, clinical residents, and postgraduate students.
