Scientists of the Institute participated in the 10th Big Data Forum for Life and Health Sciences in China

On October 13-18, 2025,Vladimir Dedkov, Deputy director for research, Anna Gladkikh, Head, epidemiological monitoring laborator, Dmitry Polev, Head, metagenomic research laboratory, Oleg Kotsar, Researcher, biomedical statistics laboratory, Mikhail Bezruchko, Alina Saitova and Sofia Platova, junior researchers at the metagenomic research laboratory, Dmitry Naidenov, junior researcher, epidemiological monitoring laboratory participated in the 10th  Big Data Forum for Life and Health Sciences, an international training course on biological data integration, exchange, and application held at the China National Center for Bioinformation (CNCB). They also discussed joint research in genomics and bioinformatics at the Beijing Institute of Genoimics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. During the visit, the experts expanded their scientific contacts and learned about current trends in database organization using existing and newly created resources in China, Pakistan, Europe, and America (such as NGDC, CNSA, UCSC Genome Browser, and the Acinetobacter database), got acquainted with new tools for genomic analysis (MetaBolt and ANNEVO), as well as the application of AI in biological data analysis using the OriGene AI program (https://origene.lglab.ac.cn/). The delegates explored the prestigious scientific journals iMeta and GPB. The Russian specialists studied the operating principles of leading laboratories, which clearly demonstrate the importance of cooperation between scientists from different institutes and countries to achieve outstanding results by combining the expertise and resources of various research groups. The knowledge obtained will be applied to establish the effective work of the Institute, including the program of world-class genomic research centers development.
