Scientists of the Institute conducted joint scientific research in Senegal


On May 19-23, 2025, Dr. Maria Makarova, head, laboratory of intestinal infections and Dr. Samida Zhamborova, junior researcher of the above laboratory, held and discussed a new area of ​​​​cooperation "Etiology and antibiotic resistance of diarrheal pathogens in the Republic of Senegal" in cooperation with the staff of the microbiology department of the Pasteur Institute in Dakar (Republic of Senegal, Dakar) in order to initiate a scientific partnership in the field of innovative diagnostic solutions for the problem of diarrheal diseases of bacterial etiology and the strategy of resistance to antimicrobial drugs. Based on the results of the study, a report was elaborated and a plan for further joint scientific research was agreed upon. It was recommended to continue the study of feces samples of patients with signs of acute intestinal infection by PCR tests using Russian kits for assessing the etiological structure of acute intestinal infections of bacterial etiology to form a vector for further cooperation. The experts also outlined the prospects for further joint work on the etiological interpretation of cases of acute intestinal infections and monitoring of clinically significant resistance of pathogens to antimicrobial drugs.
