On January 26, 2024 the Ambassador of the United Mexican States of Mexico to the Russian Federation, Eduardo Villegas Megias, accompanied by Maria Sanchez, and the Honorary Consul of Mexico in St. Petersburg, Andrey Kuznetsov visited the Institute with a reconnaissance visit. The Deputy Director for Research Vladimir Dedkov and Deputy Director for Innovation Svetlana Egorova met the guests.

Welcoming the guests, Vladimir Dedkov spoke about the Institute’s affiliation with Rospotrebnadzor, the Federal executive body that provides control and supervision functions in the field of ensuring the sanitary and epidemiological well-being of the population. In addition, it was underlined that since 1993 the Institute has been a part of the international network of Pasteur Institutes, uniting 33 institutes worldwide. International cooperation is carried out both through Rospotrebnadzor and directly with the institutions of the Pasteur Network.

Svetlana Egorova delivered a brief presentation about the Institute history, its structural divisions, main activity fields, interaction and cooperation with foreign countries, the production base and etc. She reached out with and invitation to Mexican colleagues to join the international conference, which has traditionally been held in St. Petersburg since 2020 and which is dedicated to combating COVID-19 and international cooperation in the field of preventing infectious diseases.

The Ambassador expressed his gratitude to the hosts and emphasized that his main goal for today, after studying the materials performed by Russian experts, was to provide the information received to the National Council of Science and Technology of the United Mexican States (CONAHCYT) in order to discuss directions of possible cooperation in areas mutually beneficial for the parties.

The meeting participants expressed confidence that the first step has been taken towards the long-term and mutually beneficial cooperation in the field of sanitary and epidemiological well-being of Russia and Mexico.
