In 2023, the Saint Petersburg Pasteur Institute celebrates its 100th anniversary! The Institute started as a private bacteriological laboratory. In April 1923, it gained the status of a State Institute by order of the Petrograd Provincial Health Department. Soon after, it received the name Pasteur.
From the beginning, the Institute was established for research, improvement of infectious disease diagnosis, and vaccine production. Since its inception, its work has become well known in the country and abroad. During the siege of Leningrad, the Institute’s work did not stop. In the post-WWII period, discoveries made by Institute researchers contributed to combating enteric, respiratory, and zoonotic infections. The scientific authority of the Institute is recognized in the country and at the international level. Since 1993, the Institute has been a full member of the Pasteur Network.
The International Symposium "100 years carrying the name Louis Pasteur", dedicated to the anniversary of the Saint Petersburg Pasteur Institute, will be held in St. Petersburg on June 5-7, 2023. We look forward to meeting you at the Hilton Saint Petersburg ExpoForum in June!
