The scientists of the St. Petersburg Pasteur Institute held a seminar for Vietnamese specialists

The leading researcher of the Laboratory of Etiology and Control of Viral Infections of the Institute Natalia Romanenkova and the researcher of the Laboratory of Etiology and Control of Viral Infections Olga  Kanaeva, held the seminar “Environmental surveillance and detection of circulating of polioviruses and non-polio enteroviruses among general population” from December 9 to 21, 2018 at the Russian-Vietnamese Tropical Research and Technology Centre (Hanoi) and the Pasteur Institute in Ho Chi Minh City (Vietnam) for researchers and PhD students of these institutions, as well as for the staff of medical institutions of the Vietnam Ministry of Health.

The program of the seminar included a course of lectures on poliomyelitis and enterovirus infections (global situation, surveillance, epidemiology, laboratory diagnosis). A manual for the seminar was prepared in two languages (Russian and Vietnamese).

The prospects for scientific cooperation between the Laboratory of Etiology and Control of Viral Infections and the Laboratory of Enteroviruses from St. Petersburg Pasteur Institute and Pasteur Institute in Ho Chi Minh City were discussed. The possibility of study the material from patients with enterovirus infection in the laboratory of biomedical research of the South Branch of the Tropical Research and Technology Centre was also considered.
